At our April General Meeting, LBWSA member Laura Dwan captivated us with tales of her decade-long oceanic adventures with her husband, culminating in how she has come to settle in Fiji. Her stories provide a glimpse into the thrilling and challenging life of sailing.
In the second half of the meeting, we shifted to practical skills, focusing on nautical know-how. Members learned the art of tying a Cleat Hitch and the essentials of maneuvering safely around a boat’s boom, skills crucial for any sailor.
One of our club events in April was an Anchoring Clinic, where several LBWSA members came together to gain hands-on experience in properly anchoring a boat. This practical session was both informative and engaging, enhancing our members’ sailing proficiency.
Our presence was also felt beyond the club as LBWSA members represented our group at Opening Day Ceremonies across various yacht clubs including Navy Yacht Club, Dana Point Yacht Club, Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club, Alamitos Bay Yacht Club and also volunteered at Seal Beach Yacht Club. A heartfelt thank you to all members who continue to promote our community and make our presence know in the sailing world.
